Truly Devious Series
Updated: Jul 24, 2020
I had grabbed the first book, Truly Devious, on a whim. I hadn’t really looked into the murder mystery genre. And I regret nothing. Picking up this book was a fantastic idea. The second I finished the book I drove myself to the local bookstore and snagged the second book, The Vanishing Stair. I hadn’t even finished the second book when I pre-ordered the third book. Just writing this makes me feel a little insane, but it’s a fantastic series and was 100% worth it.
This wonderful series follows the main character, Stevie Bell, to her favorite place, Ellingham Academy. Here, she is assigned to study her favorite topic, the Ellingham Murders. While Stevie is trying her best to find unknown connections to solve the school's old murders, one of her classmates dies suddenly. Now, not only does she have to solve the most famous unsolved murder case for a grade, she also feels compelled to solve the death of her sort-of-friend and so many others who were connected to the case and mysteriously died.
All throughout the series, I had multiple theories on who the killer was through out the whole book, while also having no idea who did it. Even the last book had me wondering who was responsible for everything. Stevie is an amazing character who is trying her best to figure out the truth and it's so much fun just following her around and trying to make connections with her. It's some of the most fun I've had with reading in a while and I’m a little disheartened that it had to come to an end.
